A Medicine Hat man has now had charges formally sworn against him by RCMP after he allegedly hit a cyclist and drove away.

Redcliff RCMP say 34 year old Daniel Leger has been charged with Failing to Stop after an Accident that Caused Bodily harm.

It was on July 8, a cyclist on the Trans Canada Highway was struck and the vehicle sped away, leaving the cyclist on the side of the road.

RCMP say the victiim remains in a Calgary hospital in critical condition.

Leger is scheduled to appear in court on August 7.
