February 13: Medicine Hat Musical Theatre Presents: Mamma Mia

Media Night Feb 13th: Opens Feb 15,16,20,21,22,23,27,28,Mar 1,2

Price $45

With its marriage of great pop music, fantastic dance numbers and an engaging multi-generational story, “Mamma Mia!” has been a huge hit ever since it premiered in London in ’99, before appearing as a blockbuster on Broadway. It’s spawned not one, but two major movie releases (the sequel featuring Cher is set to hit theaters in the summer of ’18.) And now we, Medicine Hat Musical Theatre, have the opportunity to bring this acclaimed production to Medicine Hat. “Mamma Mia!” tells the story of a mother, a daughter, three possible dads and an unforgettable trip down the aisle. Bride-to-be Sophie wants nothing more than to have her father at her wedding. But she has no idea which of mom’s three former boyfriends might be the guy. So Sophie invites them all to the festivities, surprising her fiercely independent mom and her loyal friends. The show’s tale of enduring love and friendship features ABBA’s fabulous hit songs, including “Dancing Queen,” “S.O.S.,” “The Winner Takes It All,” “Take a Chance on Me” and many more.

Happy Family Day! It’s time again for the Kiwanis Family Day at Police Point Park sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Medicine Hat. Kiwanis is a great sponsor for this event because of their strong commitment to families and children.

As our annual tradition, we will be offering our cross-country skiing or snowshoeing equipment for families to experience for free. Our StoryWalk® trail featuring “Froggy Gets Dressed” by Jonathan London, will be up and available. For a small fee, families can build a birdhouse, bird feeder, or robin shelf and put it up at their homes to make it wildlife friendly. For a modest cost, hot dogs will be available to roast over the open fire

Parks Canada has provided an interactive exhibit entitled “What’s the Connection? Discover Nature’s Renewal”. Parks Canada staff from Waterton Lakes National Park and Grasslands National Park will be on-site for discussion about the connection between wildfire and the grasslands.

Get outdoors on Family Day! Free, family-friendly fun activities are available at Police Point Park and in the Nature Centre. The event takes place on Monday, February 18 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. We hope you can join us!
